Gujarat State Petronet Reports Mixed Financial Results Amidst Liquidity Improvement

Gujarat State Petronet has recently reported its financial results for the quarter ending December 2024, revealing notable trends in its performance. The company operates within the gas transmission and marketing industry and has experienced a significant adjustment in its evaluation, with its score reflecting a shift to -22 from -15 over the past three months.
On a positive note, Gujarat State Petronet has reported its highest cash and cash equivalents in the last six half-yearly periods, amounting to Rs 2,790.14 crore, indicating an improvement in short-term liquidity. However, several key financial metrics have shown concerning trends. The profit before tax less other income (PBT) has recorded a decline, standing at Rs 364.01 crore, which is a substantial decrease compared to the average of the previous four quarters. Similarly, profit after tax (PAT) has also fallen to Rs 234.14 crore, reflecting a downward trend in profitability.

Additionally, the operating profit margin has reached its lowest point in the last five quarters at 13.14%, suggesting a deterioration in operational efficiency. Earnings per share (EPS) have similarly declined to Rs 4.15, indicating reduced earnings for shareholders. While non-operating income has increased to Rs 96.09 crore, this rise may not be sustainable in the long term.
